ANNIVERSARY!!!
By
now you should have received registration information for
the upcoming Five Star Business EXPO. If you haven't received
your copy, please call the ACCI office right away (630-543-4300)

advertising opportunities), a Sponsor (also excellent opportunities
for advertising - although not as extensive as a SuperStar
Sponsor), or an exhibitor, please be certain to mark the date
of the EXPO and the Kick Off Party on January 12, 2006 from

Credit-Based
Internship Program
To Roll-Out at DeVry University
DeVry
University now offers a creditñbased internship class
for upper term students enrolled in our Bachelor of Science
in Business Administration program. We are seeking businesses
who would like to host an intern for a business project. Here
are details about this internship class (MGMT 439).
- This
is a 15 week, 3 credit hour field experience course that
coincides with our semesters which begin either the first
week of March, July, or November.
- The
course is open to upper term business students who have
at least a 3.0 grade point average and who complete an application
and interview process with the school. These business students
may have concentrations in one of the following areas:
- Accounting
-
Business Information Systems
-
Operations Management
-
Human Resource Management
-
E-Commerce
-
Health Services Management
-
Hospitality Management
-
Project Management
-
Sales and Marketing
-
Security Management
-
Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship
-
Student interns usually work at the employer's site for
at least 12 weeks within the semester and average 12-16
hours per week on a defined project. Examples of intern
projects could be:
-
Developing an EXCEL spreadsheet or ACCESS database to
meet your needs
-
Conducting research for a specific project and reporting
on the results
-
Compiling information for a manual to support product,
service, or internal business procedures
-
Enhancing internal business systems or web-site to better
meet your business needs
-
Although the internships can be either paid or unpaid, we
encourage employers to provide students with a stipend or
salary that will help offset some of their expenses related
to the internship.
-
A faculty member works as a liaison between the employer
and the student to ensure that the internship project fits
with the student's major and is able to be completed within
the semester timeframe. Employers have an option to interview
internship candidates before the semester begins.
