THE
ADDISON PUBLIC LIBRARY HAS RUN OUT OF ROOM
The Addison
Public Library has run out of room. The shelves are jammed;
the wiring is inadequate; the library is busier than ever....
The library's
board of trustees needs input from the business community
as they develop plans for a new building to be constructed
at the current location. Their vision for the new library
more than doubles the size of the current 27,000-square-foot
building, which was built in 1968 with the lobby addition
completed in 1993. The board of trustees has approved an $18
million referendum to be placed on the March 2006 ballot.
In addition to your input, the board needs support, both volunteers
and financial assistance. For more information, contact Sandra
Super, (630) 458-3300, or e-mail board members at [email protected].
In the
early 1990s the library developed a business reference collection
which was given its own location and special seating area
apart from the general reference collection. As space became
an issue, the seating area was taken away and the business
collection was relocated so more general-use shelving could
be added. Reference volumes and online products your businesses
use are currently available, but the board's vision for the
new library will again have a special section devoted to business
reference. Small private conference or study rooms are part
of the plan.
Yes, your
library has run out of room! This library belongs to the business
community as well as to the residents of Addison. The board
needs you to make their vision for the Addison Public Library
a reality.
